My name is Bryson Kerns and I am a potter, sculptor, engineer, inventor and artist. I am what I like to call a "process oriented" artist. In whatever project I pursue, I like to have a hand in every level and step of the creative process. This is especially prominent in my ceramic work, as I dig and process my own clay, and derive my glazes from natural and local materials.
I am currently working on a body of work including bowls, mugs and various functional objects, made entirely out of materials from within the borders of Nebraska. This "Made From the State" work is constructed with locally dug and processed clay, and surfaced with glazes derived from materials native to the Nebraska region including limestone, iron oxide, and various other minerals and rocks. These works are literally a piece of Nebraska that you can hold in your hand.
